Experiential Traditional Sauna at Poukama

Traditional sauna bathing is a unique experience that deepens the heritage of the sauna and brings calm amidst the rush of everyday life.

During the autumn sauna session at Poukama’s Sauna Day, you will be guided through a one-of-a-kind traditional sauna ceremony. The ritual incorporates the gifts of the season—plants, sauna whisks, spells, and cultural traditions connected to this time of year.

In Finland, autumn has traditionally been the time to celebrate Kekri, the most important seasonal festival marking the end of the harvest and the working year. The sauna played a central role in this celebration: it was a time to give thanks for the past year and its harvest, to release the burdens of the old year, and to welcome the new one.

Traditional sauna bathing is a multisensory experience, where you can enjoy the healing power of nature’s gifts and the sauna steam. You can let go of daily stress, sink into the embrace of the heat, and allow time to pause. Silence, serenity, and the use of evergreen branches are an essential part of this autumn sauna ritual.

The experience is suitable for everyone, regardless of prior sauna experience. Please inform us in advance about any allergies or health concerns that may affect the sauna session.

What to bring with you?

• Swimsuit and towel
• Sauna hat (if you have one)
• Optional: slippers and a bathrobe
• A refreshing sauna drink such as mineral water

The ritual takes place in Poukama’s traditional wood-heated sauna.
